Online review:

Online review from wine.com: Deep red and violet hues, main flavors of violet and rich plum with hints of chocolate and vanilla oak. Round, silky tannins. The review recommends pairing it with a meat dish with berry flavors.

Wine Folly:

Malbec is described on the wine folly website to have flavors of red plum, blackberry, vanilla, sweet tobacco, and cocoa. It states that Malbec is typically mildly dry, has a full body, medium tannins, medium-low acidity, and 13.5-15% ABV.

My Review:

My initial impression of this wine in the glass was that it was very dark and smelled like blackberry. I swirled the wine before tasting it and tasted hints of vanilla, but could not taste many other flavors. I thought the wine had a medium body; it did not have a lot of flavor in my opinion and the flavor did not linger. I thought it was mildly dry with low tannins and low acidity. This wine is 13.5% ABV, but it tasted almost hot like there was more alcohol in it than there actually is. I also was eating dinner, Ethiopian food made up of lentils, split peas, collard greens, and rice with various spices, while trying this wine and did not think this wine paired very well with my meal. My Ethiopian food had no berry flavors whatsoever which was the recommended meal pairing from the online review. The wine was almost too sweet and the vanilla and fruity flavors clashed with my meal. Overall, I did like this wine and would rate it a 6/10. I probably would not buy it again and would prefer to eat it with fruiter food, maybe even a dessert.
